Setup
Connect the My Google Health Data beta toolkit to your Google account to allow your AI assistant to access Fitbit tracker data through Google’s Health API.
Prerequisites
Before connecting your Google Health data, ensure you have:
- Configured an MCP server in your toolforest.io dashboard.
- A Google account with supported Fitbit or Google Health data available.
Setup Steps
This is a new beta toolkit. While Toolforest is still in Google’s review process for this integration, access is allowlisted. Start by registering your email for the toolkit; after approval, the button will change from Register to Connect.
Step 1: Register for Access
- Open Toolforest and go to Toolkits.
- Select the Fitness tab.
- Find My Google Health Data (Beta).
- Click Register. This button appears where the Connect button normally appears.
- Confirm the registration request.
Step 2: Connect Your Google Health Data
- Once your registration is approved, click Connect.
- Choose the Google account with the health data you want this toolkit to use.
- You’ll be redirected to Google’s authorization page.
Important: The Google account you connect doesn’t need to match your toolforest.io email address.
Step 3: Authorize Permissions
Google will ask you to grant toolforest.io access to health and fitness data required by the toolkit. The beta currently focuses on Fitbit tracker data exposed through Google’s Health API, including sleep, exercise, HRV, breathing rate, skin temperature variation, and related daily metrics.
Click Continue to grant these permissions.
Step 4: Confirmation
After authorizing, you’ll be redirected back to toolforest.io with a “Successful connection” message. The toolkit status will now show Connected, and you can begin querying your data immediately.
Understanding Permissions
What toolforest.io Can Access
toolforest.io requests read-only access to your health metrics to enable features such as:
- Permissions and Devices: View granted OAuth scopes and list paired devices visible to the connected account.
- Daily Metrics: Retrieve sleep, activity, exercise, and recovery-related daily summaries with optional baseline calculations.
- Sleep and Recovery: Analyze sleep architecture, overnight HRV, breathing rate, skin temperature variation, and resting heart rate.
- Workout Sessions: Fetch exercise sessions with type, duration, zones, calories, and pagination controls.
- Trends and Anomalies: Compute rolling trends, percent changes, and coaching-safe anomaly flags across supported metrics.
Data Source Selection
Several tools support a data_source_family option. Use the default behavior unless you specifically want to target a source family such as Google wearables, all sources, or Google first-party sources.
Data Privacy
Your health data is retrieved only when you explicitly ask your LLM to query it. toolforest.io does not store your historical health data permanently; it acts as a bridge to fetch the specific information your assistant needs to answer your questions.
Managing Your Connection
Disconnect
To disconnect the toolkit:
- Click Manage accounts next to the toolkit.
- Click Disconnect for the Google account you want to remove.
- toolforest.io will remove the stored access tokens for the disconnected account.
Revoke Permissions
To fully revoke toolforest.io’s access to your Google account:
- Visit your Google Account permissions page.
- Find toolforest.io and click Remove Access.
