Setup

Connect the GitHub toolkit to your GitHub account to allow your AI assistant to work with repositories, issues, pull requests, labels, and projects you authorize.

Prerequisites

Before connecting GitHub, ensure you have:

  • Configured an MCP server in your toolforest.io dashboard.
  • A GitHub account.
  • Permission to install or authorize the Toolforest GitHub app for the repositories or organizations you want to use.

Setup Steps

Step 1: Connect GitHub

  1. Open Toolforest and go to Toolkits.
  2. Select the Other tab.
  3. Find GitHub.
  4. Click Connect.
  5. You’ll be redirected to GitHub’s authorization flow.

Step 2: Authorize Access

Follow GitHub’s prompts to install or authorize the Toolforest GitHub app. Choose the account, organization, and repositories you want this toolkit to access.

Step 3: Confirmation

After authorizing, you’ll be redirected back to Toolforest with a successful connection message. The toolkit status will now show Connected.

Managing Your Connection

Disconnect

To disconnect the toolkit:

  1. Click Manage accounts next to the toolkit.
  2. Click Disconnect for the GitHub account or installation you want to remove.
  3. toolforest.io will remove the stored access tokens for the disconnected account.

Revoke Permissions

To fully revoke Toolforest’s access from GitHub:

  • Visit your GitHub account’s installed applications or authorized OAuth apps settings.
  • Find Toolforest.
  • Revoke or uninstall the app for the account or organization you no longer want connected.
